Kidney Illness

The problem:
Kidneys remove wastes from the blood via urine. They regulate the levels of water and different minerals needed by the body for good health. They also produce hormones that control other body functions. Manu organs depend on the kidneys in order to function properly. If the kidneys are affected permanently, chronic renal failure (CRF) is the result.
In the early stages of CRF, the only treatment needed may be a special diet or medication. When kidneys are severely damaged (function less than 10% of normal) it is called end-stage renal disease (ESRD).
There are two treatment options for ESRD:
a. Dialysis
b. Transplantation
Both these options are prolonged and very expensive. Kidney patients go through a gruesome experience during dialysis which they have to undergo for the rest of their lives. unless they go for a transplant.

DIALYSIS CENTRES- Jivan Jyot Drug Bank has donated Dialysis Machines at various centres, where Dialysis charges are Rs. 350 or less (as opposed to Rs. 650 to Rs. 1250 charged otherwise) which is inclusive of blood tubing and dialyser. Needy patients are treated at further concession and even for free.
